Who is Koloa?

Koloa, Hawaiian for "duck" was presented to me as a gift for playing the ukulele at a Christmas party at Dukes in Malibu CA. Koloa has a very "stylish" Hawaiian shirt that makes him look rather attractive compared to all the other male ducks anywhere he travels. Now, knowing that ol Koloa is waaay too cool to just be hanging around Sylmar waiting for the good flying to return, I decide to send Koloa south for the winter ............ Way south.

Since Chris Smith is in Australia, I phoned Chris to see if Koloa could visit and maybe Chris could show him around a bit. He said he'd take good care of him so off he went. Koloa had to go north to Seattle first since Chris is up there visiting. He leaves on the 27th (tomorrow).

On my way to meet new friends

Check out my cool ride. I'm on my way to Seattle to meet Chris. Maybe he can teke me around to a few coffee houses so I can meet all those depressed people in the great NW. After a short stint in Seattle Chris and I are on our way to OZ. I hear there's another traveling duck that may be going to OZ via Utah ..........

Maybe we can hook up

At the Getty Center

Koloa appreciating one of the finer pieces in the gallery. Irises by Vincent van Gogh. It's one of the best and most valuable pieces in the collection (reported acquisition cost of $50 million).

Mental Illness .....huh? Guess if he knew he could get 50 million for his paintings he wouldn't have been driven so mad.

Koloa outside on the south terrace looking towards the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains. On clear days like this day you can see very far. But there are plenty of days where the mountains cannot be seen. Today we could see Santa Catalina island and Santa Barbara Island, part of the Channel Islands.

One last picture beside "Wheatstacks" by Claude Monet, another masterpiece in the Getty collection. By this time plenty of people are wondering what my hosts are doing with the camera. I guess the other visitors cannot appreciate a refined duck as myself (unless I'm on their dinner plate).
We didn't get to see any of the collection that has been the part of so much controversy between the Getty and the Greek and Italian governments while we were there. My hosts filled me in on much of it.
